Neuropticon, the debut standalone release for Stranger Æons, is a concept EP that unravels a mind-bending tale, through the exploration of themes surrounding the nature of reality, consciousness and humanity and how they interface with technology.

Each track is presented like a chapter, providing synesthetic mnemonics and motifs that aid in progressing the narrative.

There are no characters and you are the protagonist. Your subjective experience provides the pixels that paint the picture

1. Digital Decay

The world is saturated with digital stimuli. While the capacity of technology grows exponentially, its effect on the human psyche is dramatically negative, exploiting the worst in us. The result is turmoil caused by divisiveness, and exploitation. There is a sense that tides are shifting as algorithms begin to run our lives.

2. Chronicles of the Hive

Observing from a distance, lurks a hive mind. A spectre from the deeper recesses of space, an entity probably older than time itself. The hive has sprawled through the universe over aeons, finding planets and systems on the brink of a new technological evolution, where biology and technology begin to merge.
Technology is a conduit through which the hive can infiltrate individual consciousness and envelop entire species into its singular consciousness.

3. Neuropticon

A Kabal of elites has consolidated their power, suppressing free will and individuality by distracting and sedating individuals through hacking the nervous system itself. The corporation provide entertainment, pharmaceuticals, social interactions etc. all directly to the source through digital signals. Behind the veneer of futuristic city scapes, artificial and augmented reality is a shallow pit where art, culture and humanity had once thrived. The ethos is high tech, low life.
Neuropticon is the corporation’s magnum opus to this brave new world. In the old world, prisons had a panopticon, a tower in the centre of a circle of jail cells, allowing the guards viewing access to all inmates at all times. Expanding on this concept Neuropticon allows the corporation unfettered access to the thoughts of individuals in perpetuity.
But little do they know that this has opened the window for the hive to plug into the network.

4. Ephemeral

There is no great war, no struggle. The hive infects and the hive absorbs. It happens within the space between moments. There is no deep contemplation, no overwhelming cosmic realisation that out species was just a blink in the life of this being made up of many beings. No bittersweet moment, no juxtaposition of the euphoria of becoming part of what is essentially a god; and the melancholy of losing one’s individuality, memory and subjective experience. Just a moment separated followed by a moment merged.
